Tarot Spread School

The language of Tarot positions

A position is the card's role. The same card in 'fear', 'resource', and 'advice' speaks in different voices.

Position is stronger than dictionary

A dictionary gives a field of meanings, but the position asks the card a question. Read the role first, then the symbol.

  • In obstacle, the card shows a block.
  • In resource, the card shows support.
  • In advice, the card asks for action.

Neighbors change tone

A card rarely speaks alone. Neighboring positions clarify, amplify, or argue with it.

  • Look for repeated elements.
  • Notice tension between Major and Minor Arcana.
  • Watch where the spread changes direction.
