Six card traditions — six distinct technologies

OmenHall does not transfer one universal shuffle, reversal rule, or spread across unrelated traditions. A specific system and its authority are chosen first; then the physical or digital result is fixed; only after the immutable record does interpretation begin.

What is fixed before interpretation

Each room has its own deck, selection, orientation, and replay rules. When a source does not close a historical procedure, OmenHall leaves it research-only or fail-closed rather than completing it by analogy with Tarot.

Tarot

Sibilla

The modern Salon flow uses a server-signed pre-shuffle commitment; physical mode preserves the seeker's external order.
Selection rule
The server reconstructs the full 52-card order before persistence; interpretation reads the persisted locked_record, not a client candidate.

Oracle Cards

Original V2: server precommit + 32-byte client entropy + anonymous slots + server rebuild. Historical profiles use only proven source-specific mechanics or remain research-only.
Selection rule
Original V2 reconstructs committed authority server-side and persists before reveal; Petit/Mage cannot borrow Original V2 mechanics as historical evidence.
Verifiable trace
Technology profile, corpus/version, server commitment, client entropy receipt, anonymous selection slots, durable record/seal, and historical evidence boundary.

One hall-wide law

Eight steps from question to replay

1. The question, deck/profile, and card-selection method are fixed first.

2. The source of deck order is explicit: server-owned digital shuffle, the seeker's physical deck, or a source-bound historical procedure.

3. The full order or sufficient commitment is formed before interpretation; AI may not choose cards.

4. Selection indexes, draw actor, cut/deal policy, and orientation policy belong to the sealed result.

5. Historical profiles never inherit reversals, layouts, or meanings from modern OmenHall merely because they are convenient.

6. The durable record and server seal are verified before reveal; storage/seal/fork failure means no reveal.

7. Interpretation reads persisted authority, not a client card list or a regenerated order.

8. Replay returns the same sealed reading. A new reading is always a new independent record.

Evidence levels

A historical deck is not automatically a historical method

Source-bound

The executable procedure is tied to a specific source and is not extended beyond it.

Source-bound reconstruction

The source provides substantial anchors, while reconstructed steps remain explicitly separate from attested ones.

Later tradition

The rule is historical but is not attributed to the earliest layer of the system.

Modern practice

A contemporary reading practice that is not disguised as an ancient canon.

OmenHall method

An OmenHall-authored technology with explicit provenance and its own versioned contract.

Research only

Evidence is strong enough for study but insufficient for an honest customer historical runtime.

Non-divinatory

A historical object or game is studied without being turned into an invented oracle.

✦ Tarot

Tarot has no single universal historical algorithm: modern OmenHall, Waite, Etteilla, Marseille, Marolles, and other profiles have separate authorities.

Historical boundary

Waite and Etteilla execute only within their proven source packets; Golden Dawn, Thoth, and Marteau fail closed when edition/method evidence is insufficient. Marseille remains a non-divinatory family and Marolles a separate game.

Orientation

Orientation policy belongs to the profile. Modern automatic reversals cannot be copied into a historical system without source authority.

Replay

Replay verifies the immutable locked record. Historical storage/seal/fork conflict fails closed without revealing a result.

Historical boundary

Philippe c.1846 preserves source uncertainty and receives no invented numeric near/far thresholds. Modern Practical and Continental Houses are labeled as separate layers.

Orientation

Lenormand runtime does not inherit Tarot reversals by default. Directionality applies only where the selected profile explicitly supports it.

Replay

Replay never changes the tableau, distance relations, or chosen tradition.

Cartomancy depends on a specific deck, period, and procedure; 32-, 36-, and 52-card modes are not treated as interchangeable.

Historical boundary

Petit Etteilla 1770, Foli, Ali/Case, and other source tracks remain independent. Incomplete exact-page questions in Etteilla are not filled with later guesses.

Orientation

Reversal/direction rules apply only where the selected profile defines them; there is no universal Tarot-style reversal layer.

Replay

Replay preserves the same practical reading; historical research replay preserves the original procedure state.

Petit Oracle 1807 is frozen with explicit fail-closed physical unknowns; Mage Edmond receives no exact historical draw/interpretation without primary pages. Authored Original V2 never fills historical gaps.

Orientation

Orientation/reversal policy is defined per deck; neither universal no-reversals nor Tarot-style reversal rules may be applied to the entire meta-hall.

Replay

Original V2 replay opens persisted authority; historical research replay does not upgrade the evidence class or authorize closed procedures.

Do not reveal an outcome on storage, seal, replay, or request-fork failure.

Expert principle

A newcomer should not need archival study before the first question, but an expert can always inspect what selected the cards, which corpus version was used, and where primary evidence ends. If a historical procedure is not closed, the interface must say so plainly.
